Wing Chun Punch Club

Overview

Logo design for Wing Chun Punch Club – a Kung Fu school in Langford BC. The club embraces the best of both traditional and modified versions of Wing Chun and the logo needed to reflect a modern take on this ancient martial art. It was also important to incorporate elements of the club’s west coast setting – ocean, mountains and forest.

Approach

A silhouette of a fighter in the wing chun guard stance was used over a background of blue, green and orange abstract shapes representing the westcoast elements. A circular brush stroke helped give the feel of movement while reflecting an asian theme (chinese brush painting) and unifying the various parts of the logo. A simple san-serif font gave contrast to the imagery and added to the modern feel that the client was after.
